What Is Each One Worth?
There are over eight billion people in the world today. Each one began with the miracle of birth. Each one had its first smile, its first laughter, its first awareness. Each one had its first fear and its first pain.  Each one entered this world without a clue as to how dangerous and deadly this place can be. Yet, no one enters this world with racial or religious prejudice, anger, or hatred toward anyone—all that is learned.

It’s hard to estimate how many lives will be violently ended this year due to murders, wars, and persecutions. But if the number of human lives that will be deemed worthless were to be 100 million this year, that will only be 1.29% of the world’s population. So, what’s the big deal? After all, Psalm 8:3-4 even says, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”  The Psalmist is asking God why we matter to Him at all.

The big deal is that our God, who created billions of stars and planets, also created each and every person. He loves each one and wants each one to know Him in a deep and personal relationship. He simply loves the whole world that much.

Our hearts ache to hear the stories of the thousands of Iranian civilians who have been murdered by their own government, the deaths of Israelis and Palestinians, the deaths of a million Russians and Ukrainians, and the deaths of thousands of Nigerian Christians. Scientists say that the chemicals in the human body are worth about $200. But do you not believe that a human life is priceless? Offer up a prayer of thanksgiving to God for your life, the life of your family, and the lives of the millions you will never know. God knows and values each one. Pray that each one may know Him.
